Making a Yarn Pom Pom

First, open up both of the arms on one side of the pom-pom maker.

Next, grab your yarn and wrap it evenly around both of the arms.

Making sure to wrap the yarn tightly so you can’t see any of the plastic.

When you have completed covering the arms, work back in the other direction with the second layer.

I wrapped this size in three layers of yarn, the more yarn you use the fuller the pom-pom will turn out.

Now, that you have completed wrapping the first set of arms, close them.

Next, open the arms on the other side and draw the yarn to wrap this side in the same way you did the first.

Then, close both arms and snip the yarn off.

With a sharp pair of scissors, snip down the center of the yarn, holding the arms closed. Repeat on the other side.

Cut a long piece of yarn for securing the pom-pom. Feed the yarn through the center of the two arms.

Now tie a knot and pull tight, alternate, making knots on both sides to secure the center of the pom-pom.

Open up both sets of arms on the pom-pom maker, and pull the two sides apart.

Remove the pom-pom off of the maker. Give it a shake to fluff it up. Now give it a hair cut.

Trim any yarn piece that is longer than the rest. You can leave the tails from the yarn you secured the pom-pom with, they come in handy when attaching pom poms to crochet projects. If you don’t need the tails, trim them too.
