Front and Back Loop Crochet

Front and back loop crochet is easy to do. In traditional crochet, you insert your hook under both loops of a stitch. You can also work into only one of the loops of any crochet stitch to achieve a different look. This is called front loop or back loop, depending on which stitch you are working into.

When looking at a crochet project, the loop of the stitch closest to you is the front loop. The loop furthest away is the back loop.
