This crochet crunch stitch headband pattern is a great beginners project. These headbands also make excellent holiday gifts! They are quick to work up and can be made in adult, child and baby sizes.

Pattern Instructions
To start make a foundation chain of multiples of 2, plus 1.
Adults – ch 19
Child – ch 17
Baby – ch 15
Row 1: Slip stitch into the third chain from the hook (this counts as first Half double crochet), *1 half double in the next chain, slip stitch in the next chain, repeat from * to the end of the chain. Turn work
Row 2: chain2 (counts as half double), skip the first stitch, *slip stitch in the next half double, 1half double in the next slip stitch; repeat from * the the end, working the last slip stitch into the turning chain, turn
Repeat: row 2 until headband measures about 3″ less than the head circumference.
Head Circumference Measurements
These are average head circumference sizes. It is always best to get the actual measurements of the person you are making this headband for.
Preemie: 12″- 13″
New Born: 13″- 14″
3 to 6 Months: 14″ – 15″
6 to 12 Months: 15.5″ – 16.5″
12 to 24 Months: 16″ – 18″
Child – 3 to 10 years: 19″ – 21″
Teen/Sm Adult: 21″
Adult: 22″
Lg Adult: 23″
I’m making this headband for myself. My head measures 22″ so I worked rows until the head band was about 19″ long. Once you have reached the required length, fasten off and leave long tail for sewing.
Finishing the Headband
Fold the headband in half.
Bring the two ends together, sandwiching them as shown in the picture below.
Make sure to adjust all 4 layers so that they are even with each other.
With a yarn needle, sew all four layers together with a whip stitch. Make sure you are inserting the needle through each layer.
When you get to the end, fasten off and weave in ends. Then, turn the headband right side out.
